Did you know they used to call Priest Soul Doctors? It was considered mental health goodness to go to Confession. As a 12 Step Catholic and we take confession very seriously. It's actually built into our steps. We have our own Mortal Sin and Venial Sin Checklists. We do specific step prayers before confession and have a layout for doing confession. For those of us who carry the Cross of Addiction it's a must. And as a 12 Step Catholic we also confess our repeated venial sins.
